SCARS

You haunt me
With your disdainful presence,
Your narcissistic ruse,
Your coercive endeavours.
From our first encounters
I learnt your truths,
Lies you hide,
The mysterious intent
I am brazen yet starstruck,
Confused yet alluded
You want me to heal
But hold the very chains,
The very same whips
Keeping me on the edge.
Time, and time again,
You strike subliminally,
With your words,
Your actions.
I fall apart
Each time I see these scars,
Etched and carved
Into my body, my soul;
By the very same hands
Which promised me peace.
The same hands
I threw myself into.
For some reason,
I find myself coming back to you.
In my darkest moments,
I still seek your arms embrace.
I guess that is where our differences lay.
Amidst my madness,
My pain,
And whatever horrors lay for me;
I would reach out for you,
I would forget my scars
But you,
You will forget me.
