ETERNITY

Spent an eternity wondering
If that was me
Blindly locked in,
True form, mirror trapped, reflected.
What has been seen
Remains a mystery still,
Like the source of life,
All that is, all that we are.
If death truly was the healer,
And life, the most gruesome lessons,
Where does that leave
Our presence on this fickle earth?
Why is there no peace
For the innocent,
Hope for the lost,
Love for the weary.
Each streak of blood
Through these persons
Has been a thousand lifetimes
Of anguish, loss, and neutrality.
Benign fallen star
Yours is the channel of hope,
A saving grace,
Lost from time in space.
We have forgotten what it is like
To be cherished,
To be embraced,
To be called home.
A fixture in this brazen chaos,
Wound up, and set loose,
Reigning supreme
Over the helpless.
My light, your dark,
Confluence of the Spark,
Vivid portrayals of the abysmal descent
Into arms stained with the mark.
What more will you take from me?
