WAKE UP

It is so easy to lose sight of
What is right before our eyes,
So easy to ignore it;
Time speeds fast, slow, yet paced
The pressure you feel
Exerting every last ounce,
Each breath,
Every step of the way
You start simple, calm,
Slow steps, paced heartbeats
With echos, resonating all over
From the hair tips to your soles
It overpowers you;
Shivers down your spine
Cold chills running down
Leaving you breathless at a time
You ponder and question
The heartache, the nauseating
Feeling stirring in your gut,
The empty void that just lingers
You are missing something
But cannot grasp a hold of it
And cannot let go either
It still has that hold over you
You reminisce of
Simpler times;
Warm by the blanket,
Another beating heart right by your side
Do you remember how tightly you held?
As if you were sworn to protect it
Do you know what you gave up?
Did you feel it when it started to fade?
Now you are left alone,
Stuck in a loop
Craving something
That cannot come back to you
Your first breaths of the morning
Draw life from her witnessing
The sun reflect her presence,
It made you feel alive
The touch that awoke you
Soft hands trailing your face,
Warm, gentle, poised,
Ever so tender
You let it all slip away
Because you did not know who you were
You still do not know do you?
Let this be the start
Remember that feeling
Hold it as tight as you can
But not too tight,
Even good things have an end
Eventually you will realize
Some part of this is just a Dream
One you do not want to wake
Or escape from
Because that dream
Feels more real than what is
It feels like what was
But is not
You know better though,
You know your heart more
Than I do so,
Do not let me fall again; Wake up!!
